Evelyn Taylor Bonner + Chris Bonner
Evelyn Taylor Bonner is a ceramic artist whose work blends wheel-throwing, hand-building, screen-printing, and wide-ranging personal expression. She earned her BFA in Studio Arts/Ceramics and Art Education from Syracuse University in 1990, where she studied under renowned ceramicist David MacDonald. After graduating, she spent four years developing skills in tile and mosaic production at the historic Moravian Pottery & Tile Works in Bucks County, Pennsylvania.
Evelyn later returned to Syracuse to earn her MS in Communications from the Newhouse School, bringing a layered perspective to how she shares and teaches art.
Her ceramics—ranging from functional ware to sculptural pieces—are exhibited and sold throughout the region at venues such as Grounds for Sculpture, Wheaton Arts, the Perkins Center for the Arts’ Collingswood Gallery, and House Finch Suburban Nature Store. In addition to creating, Evelyn teaches multiple ceramics classes year-round at Perkins, where she enjoys helping others discover the creative possibilities of clay.
Chris Bonner is an Associate Teaching Professor of Ceramic Arts at Penn State University’s Abington campus, where he shares his passion for clay, craftsmanship, and kiln firing with the next generation of artists. He has been a guest lecturer at institutions including Penn State Lehigh Valley and Rutgers University, and has led anagama wood-fire kiln firings in collaboration with the Maryland Institute College of Art—using the traditional kiln he built by hand in Bucks County, Pennsylvania.
Chris brings a multidisciplinary approach to his work, drawing from his background in both anthropology and woodworking. A native of South Jersey, he earned his bachelor’s degree in anthropology from Beloit College and later pursued an MFA in ceramics at Northern Arizona University.
Before joining Penn State, Chris spent 13 years as a mold maker at the historic Moravian Pottery & Tile Works, followed by six years working with the studio of internationally renowned artist Jeff Koons.
